I have very fond memories of Camp Guyasuta as a boy and later as a Scoutmaster. I even worked there iduring the 1975 season, as the Program Director and Asst, Camp Director under the best and most dedicated professional I have ever known, Jerry Thatcher. We had a full summer camp program and a staff of 29 back then. I haven't been there a lot since Ranger Sonny passed on. Some times, I used to walk the trail to the back of the camp, and when I returned to the parking lot my problems of the day seemed to have melted away. I am amazed every time that I do get a chance to stop in, to see how many improvements have been make, it is still a great place and I am a firm believer that this camp has so much to offer that is not being used. It is especially great for the "new" troops and the troops located nearby. Yes we are fortunate enough to have Heritage and some other great camps in our council, but for a week-end outing, why spend so much time traveling and why waste gas with such a great place so close !!
